6 Powerful Ways to Start Your Path of Soul Liberation

Modern life is hard. With the advance of technology, we now have infinite ways to connect, yet feel more disconnected than ever before. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) 2023 fact sheet, more than 700,000 people die due to suicide from all regions of the world every year. And for every suicide, there are many more who attempt suicide. In 2019, WHO reported that suicide occurs throughout the lifespan and was the fourth leading cause of death among those 15-29 years old.

Having once struggled with severe self-abandonment in relationships, lack of self-love, and trauma trapped in my body, I once very briefly contemplated suicide myself. Today, I feel that the very same struggles that made me once wish to take my own life have led to powerful progress on my path of soul liberation.

I feel so grateful for the 13 years I have spent deeply studying the Vedic spiritual traditions of Ayurveda, Yoga and Vedanta’s universal spirituality from oral lineages that share the most authentic transmissions of this ancient wisdom from India. I loved learning about ancient Indian goddess wisdom as part of this journey, which outlines a complete nine-step path of soul liberation.

Here are some powerful ways that have helped me start to transform my life, and that you can try to start your own path of soul liberation.

1. Set an intention and write it down.

Give yourself time to stare at a blank page for a period of time until inspiration arrives, if needed. Once your intention arrives, make sure to capture it on paper. Even if you initially need to write it on your phone while commuting, committing your intention to paper helps to strengthen your connection with it.

Your intentions for your journey of powerful soul liberation can be very practical and oriented towards developing habits that support your wellness, which is the foundation for evolving spiritually. These could be intentions like waking up earlier, cooking more regularly, or keeping a gratitude journal.

Your intentions can also be less tangible, like resolving to practice more forgiveness, or developing qualities like courage. The intention that I commenced my own powerful soul liberation journey with was:

“Find the strength to let go of what needs to be let go,

The courage to reclaim what needs to be reclaimed

And the wisdom to hold on to only that which is eternal and changeless.”

2. Reach out for support.

It is a brave decision to start your journey of powerful soul liberation, so if there is anyone who encourages you to keep evolving, reach out to them to share your intentions. If you don’t have someone you feel would support you, consider researching therapists, coaches, counselors, or joining a community of people interested in spiritual growth.

3. Retreat inward.

Say no to unnecessary things in your life, including certain social engagements, travel or extra work that can distract you. This involves creating time to be alone, even if just for ten to fifteen minutes per day, so you can actualize your intention.

4. Feel all your feelings.

This is a crucial aspect of powerful soul liberation, to ensure that the practices you take on will support your evolution, without bypassing the emotional aspect of liberation. The path of powerful soul liberation involves becoming less identified with our emotions, but we have to feel to heal. Tears can be very cleansing and therapeutic, especially when finally facing issues you may have long avoided.

5. Apply a practice.

To realize your intention for powerful soul liberation, you need to act upon it. Even if you have set a less tangible intention, like practicing forgiveness, you can still act upon this type of intention by reading a book about forgiveness, for example.

6. Be consistent.

Growth on the powerful path of soul liberation is measured by the stability of your mind. Stability comes from consistency. It takes consistent effort to become – and remain – physically and emotionally stable enough to liberate your soul from all kinds of old patterns and conditioning that mask its radiant power.

The path of powerful soul liberation is the most uplifting one you will ever embark upon. And it all starts by planting the seed of an intention that you can water with support, inward time, practice and consistency.
